Melissa turned to yoga to help her cope with anger, fear and confusion related to a family crisis. Yoga gave her the tools to detach with love from situations that were outside her control. Practicing yoga regularly has taught her to confront her fears, to breathe freely, and to align her mind, body and spirit.
Melissa has been teaching vinyasa yoga at Yoga On Chocolate since March 2014 when she completed the Yoga On Chocolate 200-hour Teacher Training Program (Registered Yoga School, YOCTT). Melissa is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) through Yoga Alliance.
Melissa continues to grow as a student and completed a yin teacher training program in October 2015. Melissa connects to the energetics of yoga, which inspired her to participate in the completion of two levels of Reiki. In addition, she holds a B.S. Degree in Education from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Melissa leads a non-judgmental yoga class that combines her deep love of movement and meditation with the practice of yoga. In her classes, she is precise in her instruction and always focuses on breathing to maximize building strength, endurance and flexibility. Melissa brings attention to the connections students may be experiencing while she guides them safely into poses that challenge them to safely expand their edge.
